In this (possibly!) his anniversary year, The Marian Consort presents both familiar works and rarer gems by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina to the idyllic setting of the Dunster Festival. Alongside, we hear music from the greatest composer of an earlier age, Josquin Desprez, as well as masterpieces by Palestrina’s Roman contemporaries, students and successors, showing his music in context and revealing the network of musical and personal connections underlying these astonishing pieces.
